Britain on Film.

In 1959 Britain's biggest cinema company, the Rank organisation decided to replace its newsreels with a series of short, quirky topical documentaries that examined all aspects of life in Britain. The films seem surreal to me and each one evokes a sentimental longing to live in the past that they show with the innocent voice overs and cheerful tunes playing in the background, everyday life seems so romantic and jolly. The theme tune is also significantly catchy!

I have been interested mainly in Country living, episode 09 and the idyllic cinematography that it contains may become source material for some future work.
